Criss Cross Jazz 1199 CD
Tim Ries Septet
Alternate Side
On Alternate Side,
his second Criss Cross session,
the saxophonist-composer Tim Ries,
who toured with the Rolling Stones in 1999,
addresses six melodocentric, challenging originals,
a reshaped bop era classic, and the little-known Stones
"New Standard" Moonlight Mile from the "60s.
Joined by an A-list ensemble, Ries sings through his horn
throughout the multiple contexts of the recording,
displaying a singular musical personality.
Sidemen:
Greg Gisbert - trumpet,
Michael Davis - trombone,
Ben Monder - guitar,
Larry Goldings - piano, organ,
John Patitucci - bass,
Billy Drummond - drums
and Stacy Shames - harp.
