Criss Cross Jazz 1180 CD
Ryan Kisor Quartet
Point Of Arrival
Young virtuoso trumpeter Ryan Kisor sounds like an old soul
on his second Criss Cross date,
a fiery, thoughtful exploration of a choice selection of standards
and originals with a top-notch New York rhythm section,
consisting of pianist Peter Zak,
bassist John Webber and
drummer Wille Jones III.
Winner of the Louis Armstrong International Trumpet Competition at 17,
he recorded 2 dates for Columbia by the age of 20,
when he was already a regular in the Mingus Orchestra's trumpet section.
Since 1994 he's worked steadily with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra.
